Our Mission

Missions We Support:  Speedway Community Ministries is involved in many ministries here in our own communities of Homestead and Florida City.

Campbell Pre-K School:  In April of 2013, Pastor Brock went to Washington, D. C. for a Chuck Colson seminar. He was introduced to a program by a church in Portland, OR that changed the culture of an entire failing high school and turned it into one of the most successful in Oregon! Pastor Brock brought that idea to Homestead in August of 2013 and is now having a wonderful opportunity to help turn Campbell Elementary around as well.  On the Friday before the school reopened for fall, over 60 people showed up to help get the school ready.  Once the school opened, the ministry was able to provide warm coats and sweaters for all the children in Pre-K & Kindergarten which numbered over 200.  In addition, we now have ladies from the community going into the school to read and be of assistance to the teachers as well as local businesses and organizations adopting a classroom which is developing nicely.  One of the joys we get is seeing the faces of all the children and teachers we serve who are so appreciative.

Military:  Speedway’s relationship with the military started 10 years ago in 2005 when we made shoe boxes for the needy families at Christmas.  It progressed to adopting families at Christmas with gifts and food cards from Publix.  Eventually, through Pastor Brock joining the Military Affairs Committee (MAC) of the Chamber of Commerce, it has blossomed into a full-time relationship with us helping at the base and the military helping alongside us as we sought to “leave Homestead better than we found it.”  They are now fully on board in helping us impro

ve the “quality of life” for our elementary schools here and in the surrounding area!

Youth For Christ:  Youth for Christ (YFC), under the local leadership of Stacy Morales, Mary Ann Draghi and Johanna Ralsten have been wonderfully successful with KIX.  The KIX program shares the love of Christ with needy children throughout Homestead and the Florida City area.

Agape Family Ministries:  Agape, a Miami faith-based recovery center

for women with drug and alcohol addictions is supported by Speedway Community Ministries through hands-on teaching involvement.

Speaker Available:  Pastor Shiffer is also available as a guest Preacher at your church or organization.
